Sew what??

About a week ago, Mama bought a sewing machine.

Mama has never had a sewing machine.

Mama has no clue how to sew.

So she decided to take sewing lessons ... so far, she has had two.

Mama is quite enthusiastic about sewing. In fact, I hardly see her anymore. She is usually to be found with her nose in her noisy machine, vanished beneath a fabric mountain chain. Only the occasional scissor chopping and muffled expletive can be heard ...

Yesterday, Mama took the day off from work ... to sew.

I was going to get all jealous - after all, who is the Princess? Me or the Singer? But then, she showed me this :

My first ever home-made frock! With vaguely matching jeans (Mama made a real mess of the jeans, and is unable to sew the leg seam closed again - she broke FIVE needles in the trying process though~!)

Now you will note that everything is uneven, and if you were to sneak your nose into the inside, there lies within a labyrinth of thread, orphaned hanging fabric, and broken needle heads which she can’t unknot from the material.

"Good try Mama!" I would say that a Princess deserves a little more quality in the fine-tuning of her attire – but I’m not going to, or I won’t see you again for another week!’

Oh – and THANK YOU Abigail in Utah for the inspiration. Mama looks forward to adopting you as her on-line seamstress tutor shortly!

I need a satchel fit for a Princess!

Dear Diary,

I think I must the luckiest little girl in the whole world.

Today, Mama got two phone calls. One from my special "CAMSP" centre, and one from the local maternelle school headmistress. Guess what?! I'm starting school on Friday 6th November!!!

I'll be going to school twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. I already know my teacher, cos we went by to visit her last week. Her name is Gaëlle. Anticipating my pending Princessly arrival, Gaëlle has already glued my name to my coat-peg and prepared a little book with photos of my future class-mates so that I can get used to their faces before I start. She has even written in the words to the songs they sing so that I can recognize them when we start singing in class! Isn't she just the BEST teacher in the whole wide world?

There will be another lady - called Sandrine - who will be my helper all day long. In French, their call her an 'AVS", a kind of special assistant for special children like me. She's already there, in the classroom, waiting for me to turn up! Isn't that something! Mama says I am very blessed and incredibly lucky. I'd say she's right on that front.

I am SO excited - Gaëlle has already told the class all about me, they know I will be turning up soon, and that I am a Princess! I can't wait to go to school! Hurry up 6th November!! And to think, when I was born, that some people warned Mama and Papa that maybe I would never get as far as school .... phew, what a miracle Princess I am! (but alas, not very modest, I know)

I was so excited ... I decided to stand on my head! Click on this and take a closer look!

An exciting weekend with Grandad (aka "Dada")

Grandad has some really funky 1970's accesories

Get a load of those shades! Right out of Starsky and Hutch!

Goodness knows where he finds them .... isn't he the fashion icon!

As you can see by the funky clothes he's sporting there ...

We even did a bit of the "Saturday Night Fever" routine on the terrace. What a raver my Grandad is!

I was in a particularly mischievous mood this weekend. Can you tell??!!!

Grandad took me to the fair this weekend. I loved it! Grandad bought me seven rides and I did six of them all on my own!

by the way - i don't always have a dummy in my mouth, but anticipating that I might not like the round-about, Mama gave me my soothing friend my dummy 'just in case'.

Don't know what she was panicking about though - I loved every second of the rides! I didn't want to leave!
